]]>This year, the eighty-first edition of the Geneva International Motor Show sees the new 4C Concept supercar making its debut on the Alfa Romeo stand.

Peak performance, Italian style and technical excellence aimed at maximum driving pleasure in total safety for the new Concept, created by the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile.
The Geneva motor show, which has now reached its 81st edition has long been acknowledged as the most important international event in this sector. Alfa Romeo is taking part, as it does every year, in great style: the famous brand will be setting up a stand in the spirit of sportiness and elegance to show off its latest products to the public.

The indisputable star of the Alfa stand will be the 4C Concept: a classic mid-engined two-seater, rear-wheel drive coupé formula with 2, bucket seats, length of approximately 4 metres and a wheelbase of less than 2.4 metres. Dimensions which serve both to emphasise the compact size of the car and to accentuate its agility. 
       
The Alfa Romeo 4C Concept is the result of experience built up with the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione and 8C Spider and offers materials such as carbon and aluminium and engineering such as rear wheel drive, an outstanding 4 cylinder 1750 turbo petrol engine with direct injection, “Alfa TCT” dry twin clutch gearbox and Alfa D.N.A. for dynamic control of the vehicle.

One innovative aspects of the new Concept car is the extensive use of carbon, which here also performs a structural function to guarantee exceptional agility with a weight/power ratio lower than 4 kg/HP. The specific on-board outfit has been defined by maintaining equipment and devices directly connected to the car sporting use.

]]>28/02/2011The SBK tradition continues for Alfa Romeo, which brought out its best cars in recent years during the championship.

Alfa Romeo has acted as Safety Car and Top Sponsor at all editions and in the 13 races of the 23rd edition of the SBK championship and now consolidates its link with the Superbike championship by again acting as Sponsor throughout 2011 with the Alfa MiTo.

The safety car will make its debut on the track for the warm-up and before each race from 27 February in Australia, on the Phillip Island circuit. The sponsor in all 13 races in the 24th SBK 2011 championship, Alfa Romeo consolidates its link with a sport where standard production-derived motorbikes compete in a championship that is increasingly fiercely fought, year on year, and followed by millions of fans throughout the world.

Alfa Romeo is considered the brand best able to convey the spirit experienced on the race track and has always been particularly attuned to the sporting values expressed in the SBK Championship.

In Italy, the Alfa Romeo safety car will make its debut on the track in Monza on 8th May, in Misano on 12th June and in Imola on 25th September.

]]>27/02/2011Alfa Romeo is back at the Techno Classica Essen this year. The Essen fair, now in its 23rd edition, is one of the most exciting events in Europe and every year offers visitors a chance to admire the best classic, vintage and deluxe vehicles in the world motoring scenario.

The Techno Classica Essen is preparing to amaze and astound its visitors by opening its doors to trade press and trade visitors on 30th March with a day of presentation. The show will conclude on 3rd April. This edition of the event is set to beat all previous records among the many other sector events: nearly all the exhibition areas at the Essen fair (20 pavilions and other outside spaces) are already full.

In 2010, the fair welcomed 173,000 visitors from 38 different countries and now continues its successful trajectory by offering exhibitors a new theme: “Share the Passion”.

Last year, Alfa Romeo enjoyed plenty of prominence within the show: the brand set a large stand to mark its centenary, which saw Alfa playing a leading role in many other events and exhibitions.

For this edition, more than 180,000 visitors are expected from more than 40 countries and more than 1150 exhibitors. In addition to classic and prestige cars, two-wheeled vehicles and accessories will also be present at the motor show. The Essen fair is confirmed as a meeting point for clubs from throughout the world: more than 2500 vehicles sold by the most renowned dealers make the Techno Classica 2011 a world centre for commercial trading.

Alfa Romeo will be exhibiting various cars, including some models that are new to the show or have never been seen in public. The list of models on show is as follows: 1. ]]>01/09/2011La storica “corsa più bella del mondo” prenderà il via da Brescia il giorno 11 maggio per farvi ritorno il 15, dopo aver toccato alcuni centri storici delle più belle città tra cui: Bologna, San Marino, Roma e Firenze.

Anche quest'anno il team ufficiale dell'Alfa Romeo parteciperà schierando alcune vetture del museo storico di Arese. Si va incontro a un'edizione che riproporrà il meglio delle ultime tre con nomi illustri al volante e tanto spettacolo, per un evento riconosciuto in tutto il mondo come il simbolo del Made in Italy.

A conferma i dati registrati durante la scorsa edizione: ben 7 milioni di spettatori accalcati lungo il percorso, oltre 2000 articoli usciti sulla carta stampata e più di cento servizi televisivi nell'arco di 10 giorni. “Un successo che non smette di crescere di anno in anno” commenta Alessandro Casali, il Presidente della Mille Miglia.

]]>11/05/2011The well-known Festival of speed takes as its central theme “Racing Revolutions: the great ideas that have changed the history of racing forever” and will start on 30th June to conclude on 3rd July.

This year too, Alfa Romeo renews its three-year sponsorship of the Festival of Speed: the relationship between Alfa and this UK Festival is long-lasting and ongoing. Alfa Romeo will mark the occasion by taking part with various racing cars that have gone down in the history of the brand. As happened last year, the actual festival will be preceded by a Moving Motor Show (planned for 30th June), a day reserved for automotive manufacturers, who will be given an opportunity to show off their production models and most recent working concept cars.

The parade is expected to be attended by 176,000 people and more than 680 journalists and photographers from 24 different countries. A large “Rosso Alfa” stand will be set up for the occasion. Visitors will be able to admire the latest concept cars created by the Centro Stile in addition to the innovative Alfa TCT gearbox, now equipping the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

]]>30/06/2011Four new models will extend the extensive collection of Alfa Romeo cars already present at the renowned Museo dell'Automobile in Turin. First of all will be the new concept car introduced at the Geneva motor show: the magnificent Alfa Romeo 4C, a distillate of technology that will entrance everyone with its shape and excellent performance.

Performance, Italian style and engineering excellence with the aim of maximum driving satisfaction in complete safety: these are the values embodied by the brand-new model that is destined to appear in 2012 and can soon be viewed by visitors to the Museo dell'Automobile in Turin. In addition to the new Concept car, another three Alfa Romeo models will be exhibited in the gallery:

  • Alfa Romeo Vola: the elegant sports car introduced at the Geneva motor show in 2001. The car was designed by the Fioravanti design studio and is characterised by a curious rotating sunroof.
  • Alfa Romeo Dueottanta: the historical Alfa Duetto with a modern slant. This car was introduced at the Geneva motor show to mark the Brand Centenary and is the latest cooperative venture between Alfa and Pininfarina (a partnership that has remained in force since the 1930s). The car won the “Car Design of the Year Award 2010” in the Concept Car category.
  • Alfa Romeo Brera Giugiaro: the car presented at the Geneva motor show in 2002. Specific features of this model include a panoramic glass sunroof with electrically operated sunblind and electrical control of stability and traction. All the models introduced over the years at the renowned Geneva motor show will soon be on show to the public in the museum, which already houses a very eclectic collection of Alfa cars.

The event has now reached its 11th edition and will take place from March to November in Italy (Milan, Rome and Turin), Turkey (Istanbul) and the UK (London). The Alfa MiTo will be present as a sponsor during all 10 events organised in the various cities.

Although this is the first year of sponsorship for the MiTo, the leading electronic music festival in the South of France has now reached its 13th edition.

Marsatac will be held in autumn, during the last week-end in September, more specifically, from the 23rd to the 25th. Last year, the festival attracted impressive crowds: 25,000 visitors, 50 DJs and 96 hours of non-stop electronic and hip-hop music.

Against the fantastic backdrop of the Parco San Giuliano in Venice, prominent names on the international scene will perform during a one-day event devoted to electronic dance. Electro-Venice 2011 will feature artists from throughout the world who are able to attract thousands of people to their concerts.
This edition will be headlined by Fatboy Slim, with his highly individual Big Beat, which transformed his mix into a factory brand. 

This musician will be joined on the Alfa MiTo Stage at Electro-Venice 2011 by the greatest exponents of the world electro-house scenario: from Canada we will welcome Deadmau5, the DJ and producer hailed as the heir to Daft Punk.

]]>18/06/2011For the fourth consecutive year, Alfa Romeo supports the Milano Jazzin’ Festival 2011, which will attract some of the best-known performers on the international music scene this summer to the Gianni Brera Civic Arena for a long series of free and paid events. While the star of previous editions has been the Alfa Romeo MiTo, this year the baton passes to the Giulietta, Alfa Romeo's top-of-the-range car.

The artists who have confirmed include the singer-songwriter Cindy Lauper, George Benson, Ben Harper, Robert Plant and the well-known group Arcade Fire. These are only some of the exceptional artists who will perform on stage of Milano Jazzin' Festival 2011, which explores all musical genres and the various forms of fusion music: jazz, pop, the virtuosity of classic rock guitar, electronic, blues, soul and even the most esoteric experimental forms.
